What is Nisarga Mitra Olympiad (NMO)

Its a unique competition that encourages children (5th to 9th std) to for project-based learning inspired by nature & environment. The competition inspires students to find solutions to environmental problems and create a social impact. It is an educational project which promotes Inclusive and Remote-friendly Education leveraging technology for reach to any corner of the country. The previous Competition format was based on 4 rounds.
Round 1 - MCQ Test on Environmental Awareness
Round 2 - Observation Activities
Round 3 - Projects on selected themes
Round 4 - Project Presentation

Journey in last two years

NMO 1.0 - 2023 : 1,800 children from 12 states participated in this competition. Total 239 projects(individual/group) on Water, Soil , Plants, Animals & Birds were submitted for evaluation NMO 2.0 - 2024 : 5465 students participated from 14 states with 213 students qualifying for the final round Total 543 projects (individual/group) on Plants, Animals & Birds, Energy, Food, Water were submitted for evaluation

This online, open-book MCQ quiz will test a student's environment literacy . Environmental literacy is an individual's understanding, skills, and motivation to make responsible decisions about the environment.
It considers an individual's relationship to natural systems, communities, and future generations.

7. Food , Health and Agriculture : How food and farming choices affect our health and environment

It is the Most integral Round of our competition! Through Project-based learning , students apply their classroom concepts to create innovative science projects! Inspired by nature, students build artistic animal models, document life around them, create sustainable products, and
explore real-world environmental solutions! They submit projects by writing reports, taking photos, videos and making tables/graphs.

The student presents his project in the form of a presentation, and answers project-related questions from experts

Project-based learning guided through online mode, inspired by real-world environmental issues. With the tailored guidance of our Environmental experts,
this Olympiad promotes independent thinking.
